Running cold vs Hot

Post by alvald83 »

I've been meaning to reach out to you folks regarding something i notice with my '69 f250.  Its has a stock 360 with an automatic transmission.  It runs very well, but one thing that i notice,  is that it seems to have more power when its cold. I have a big cabover on it all of the time and travel over a few small hills when i leave my home.  When its cold it seems to take these hills with ease.  On warm days or when im returning from a long drive, it seems to labor a bit over the same hills.
Any ideas of what needs to be done to have it run with that full power that i see when its cold?  Im running a petronix points conversion with the stock coil (which i installed years ago).  Thanks in advance. Al

My well-running cars and trucks generally ran better when outside temps were colder.
I always thought it was because of the intake air thru the carb...Denser air maybe when it’s cold outside causing a richer fuel/air mixture?
