Hi there.
From the Dallas area, new to the forum, new to F100's. My 14 year old became interested in these and decided he wanted to buy one and fix it up to be his daily driver when he gets his license. So we bought a 1972 F100 long bed. It has a 360, a manual 3 speed on the column, 9" rear end, power steering, and it runs! Was originally candy apple red but someone has painted it a deep dark purple. Other than that, it's all original and has most of the original trim. Very cool.
We're now tinkering on it over weekends.
I joined the forum because I'm a raw beginner. Not a mechanic and an expert on nothing car-related. I figure I can learn a lot here!

Great project and good way for kids to learn about mechanical skills.
My son did the same thing about a year ago. He (Me really) bought a 71 F100 Longbed Ranger XLT with a 390/3 speed C6 Auto. In the year, he has disassembled and rebuilt almost the entire truck.
I think he is "done" for now, but will likely 4-link the rear and start installing a new front end soon.
He learned a TON over the year, and as a 17yr old, has picked Mechanical Engineering as a major for college. So great stuff...
Now, if I can get him to put my tools BACK!
