Looking to get back to a 9" in the rear. If I find one, can I change out all the internals so it will match the front spline count as well as gearing? I think the 73 on up have wider spring perches, so I'll be looking for a 67-72. Any thoughts?

The sky (and your wallet) is the limit...
Gearing is easy just about anything is available for a 9" Spline count 28 and 31 are most common (and only Ford options AFAIK) but it isn't necessary the the axle or pinion spline count match the front.....
