Clutch question - df700000

I got a good deal on a centerforce df700000 clutch and pressure plate ($80) and would like to know if it is a good choice for my truck or if I would be better off selling it and getting something more suited for a daily driver. My truck is a 72 f250 4x4 with np435 and it will have a 390 from a 67ltd, headers and 4bbl, otherwise stock.

Its overkill, and being a performance clutch it will be grabby and have a stiff pedal requiring more effort to disengage. if you were tractor pulling this would be the way to go. If it were me i'd go looking for a nos pressure plate and clutch disc like I did for my truck ten years ago, but a good aftermarket diaphragm clutch kit would be just fine and pleasant to shift with. IMO

Thanks, that's what my concerns were. Driveability is what I'm after. I have the original 3 finger but thought a diaphragm would be an upgrade. Any thoughts on summit brand clutches #700822 or an inexpensive alternative

I have not used summit brand clutches before. that part number though is a diaphragm pressure plate kit and the diaphragm style will be an easier pedal vs the three finger PP. the price looks hard to beat. don't forget to resurface the flywheel or replace when you do the clutch job.

That is a fantastic deal on that clutch if it is new or nearly so, thats is a 500.00 clutch.

Center Forces claim to fame is the counterweights that allow relatively light pedal pressures with clamping force that increases with RPM.

I'd give it a try.
