Small block (351W) in an F350 bump - front or rear pan?

You can use either one . The front sump will get oil all over the cross member when you change the oil.

I’m used to that - just changed the oil in the 352 that the Windsor will replace.

Just wanted to make sure there’s nothing quirky about the F350 chassis that might cause issues. Going by the casting number (and things like a double roller timing chain), the short block that we pulled from an F250 bump looks to be a 351HO from a 1989 Crown Vic - possibly a cop car given that the base model was a 302 and most regular customers didn’t ante up for the 351 because of the gas guzzler tax. It has the rear pan, so I’ll stick with that and order a new pick up. Slowly getting all the parts together to finally build it up - hopefully we’ll be able to switch the motors out sometime this summer.

I used an Early Bronco pan on my 71' F-350 DRW build that made oil changes a breeze!
Dual sump pan that uses a rear drain hole making it perfect for our bumps.
Generic image but the same pan I used, their still quite a few of them to be found in boneyards as most guys don't know what their looking at.
