Re: S/S hubcaps
I did mine and they came out perfect. I had the SS professionally polished then the masking starts. I used fine-line tape available from most automotive paint supply stores. You can get this in different widths as I needed a very fine line to mask off the straight lines around the crown. It turns corners easily and gives a clean, crisp line. I masked off each of the blocks and then using a razor blade, lightly cut around the diamonds.
Once taped off, I used 320 grit sandpaper to VERY lightly scuff the areas to be painted, being extra careful around the tape lines. Then simply spray with satin black and let dry. I did mine over 20 years ago and they still look new today.

I used a series of paint pens from Hobby Lobby. 10 years outdoor storage, they're ready for a re-do. Much faster than masking and painting with brush or spray.
too many Fords, no where near 'nuff time.
or, money.

Thank you for the information
I would assume you still need to sand the areas to be painted

Who did you have polish you hubcaps?
I need to have someone polish (and paint, if possible) a set for me.
Thanks,
Trever

Re: S/S hubcaps
I took them to a chrome shop and they professionally polished them, then I spent aLOT of time masking and painting but after 30 years, they still look brand new!
I took a close-up picture with my IPad and tried to attach but the file size is too large and I don't know how to change the resolution.
