New Clutch

Can anyone recommend what clutch kit I should buy for a '67 f100 3 speed on the column with a 302 v8 from a '73 torino?

Since the '67 F-Series didn't come with a 302, here is what I think I would try. First of all, do you already have a pressure plate from the Torino? If so, I think you may be able to use it. If not, I would check to see if the part numbers for pressure plates are the same for a '70 F-Series with a 302 and a '72 Torino 302. I believe that the 302 engines and the 240/300 6 cylinder engines use the same pressure plate, at least in the later trucks. The contact surface of your pressure plate and the diameter of the clutch disc should match, but other than that, the clutch discs are not really engine specific. Just make sure the disc fits the input shaft of the trans. It (the input shaft) will most likely be 1 1/8" and 10 spline, although some Ford trannies had a 1 3/8" input. I'm mainly an FE guy so, don't take everything I said as gospel. You will have to research some part numbers. Maybe someone else can chime in.

Not that it's any guarantee but both Summit Racing and RockAuto list the same clutch kits for both the '67 F100 I6 and the '73 Torino 302.

Rather than take a gamble, I sent my old parts to Ft Wayne Clutch for a rebuild. They did an excellent job and I know the parts fit my vehicle.

There's a franchise around here call "Clutch Man". They'll come to your house or work, resurface the flywheel, sell you a clutch. They resurfaced my flywheel and sold me a "performance" clutch for IIRC about $200.

Thank you all for the input. I really appreciate it. I think that I will go with a clutch kit from rock auto. and probably a new fly wheel. Altogether it costs about $160.
