Notching Trans mount
I have a c-6 transmission and running long headman headers. I looks like I am going to have to notch the trans mount. Has any one done this and how much did you have to take off? Did you have to reinforce where it was notched at. I am really close to getting this running after about 2 years. Thanks for any help.

Re: Notching Trans mount
If it were mine, I would bend or modify the headers before I would start cutting on the truck. You can bolt them on tightly and they will probably move enough to get the clearance on the cross member. You could also cut the collector and weld it back together with the desired mods to make it clear.

Pictures could help.
The bending the headers might work .
I wanted to move some headers up, so I bolted them to the engine and heated the tubes with an oxy acetylene torch , and slowly moved them into place.
If you're set on notching the cross member you could use some heavy wall pipe to weld into place.
or look at what they do when they "C" notch a frame to lower a truck.
