Sunvisor clip

Post by 1968f250429 »

Hello all, I ordered a new support clip for the sunvisors and the two screw holes do not line up.
Did they make two different versions?

My truck is a 68 and the cab I'm using was built in dec of 67. I ordered the clip from Dennis carpenter in black. Didn't say anything about drilling new holes. Thanks for your help. Beau

I believe 67 has a different mount .

If I remember right , the 67 mirror mount has the visor clips,
68 and later stuck the mirror to the windshield , so they had different mounts.

The 1967 mirror was attached to the cab with screws, the mirrors on 1968-1972 were attached to the windshield. I believe the visors on the 1967 trucks used the mirror for holding the visors in place. The 1968 to 72 trucks used a plastic piece that was screwed in where the 1967 mirror was located to hold the visors in place. FYI

I installed one out of a '67 mustang in my '71 because I got tired of the mirror falling off the glass. The original '68 and later clip is a mustang part. The '67 stang mirror installed ok but doesn't follow the roof profile as well as I'd like. However, I never notice it while driving.

This post made me remember that I have 2 of these that I pulled off of a couple of trucks 12 or15 years ago. One is the same color as pictured above, the other is chrome. I was going to grind one down to fit the roof profile of my 75, but couldn't justify ruining them when it came down to it. I guess I could let go of one or both of them if your interested. I don't remember what they cost, but it wasn't much back then. Shoot me a PM if you need one.
