Arp, Summit, Jeg's, and Ford Racing sell the special reducing washers to keep the heads in line. Not sure who else does, but those ones for sure. You can buy them as a kit.

Are you certain that the holes are 1/2.

The outside water passages have the extra bolt hole in the intake, something Ford only did on the early 351w's. Per the spacer / shoulder washer I'm not too concerned as long as the bolt head has enough clamping surface to the head casting. I made the last set I used. Took about an hour on the lathe and some 3/4" round stock. Honestly a single 7/16" or even 3/8" (if it fits over the bolt) grade 8 washer should suffice to spread the load. The indexing dowels keep the head from moving so the bolts are only holding the head to the block.

My point is the casting number is only that so we are calling then 351 heads because that’s the use in passenger cars... The castings could have been machined differently for industrial/marine. He needs to check and not assume because they are “351 heads” they have all the attributes of 351 passenger car heads...

I measured the holes and they are 1/2" They also have the L shaped water jackets on each side. They also have the extra bolt hole on next to the L shaped water jacket

Just checking...

I like the grey, it has a Traco vibe to it.

I was able to build the kit with Clevite bearings, Melling HV pump, Speed Pro Forged pistons, Felpro Gasket kit, freeze plugs, Haven't decided on rings yet.

But its about $50 more for these parts than the Federal Mougal kit. Should I go with the parts I chose over the kit?

Speed Pro is Federal Mogul and so is Fel Pro. Melling makes good pumps but make sure HV is what you want.

If you go to the kit contents tab at summit it will show you what is in their kit, then you can compare it to what you picked if you wish.

thanks, In an effort to clean up my engine bay, is there a benefit to running the PS cooler? Mine is attached to the pump itself and sticks up over the pump. This is not a daily driver. I would like t bypass it if possible
