I'm restoring a 71' 2wd, SWB. Original motor is 240 6cyl and I have a 73' 390 truck for a donor. I have the frame done and am getting ready to bolt the motor mount towers back into place and the trans (manual) cross member. I noticed that there are 2 sets of holes on the frame for the cross member and additional holes where the motor towers mount. I was told the 240 mounts would work on the 390, just need to move to the other set of holes. The donor truck towers seem to be similar to my 240's, but have not gotten the 390 pulled yet to clarify. Question is, should I reuse the 240 towers, or will the 390 towers be different, and I should use them? And, any idea which set of holes for the cross member? I'm questioning if the 390 sits further back and will move that cross member closer to the rear of the vehicle. I assume it's not enough to worry about driveline length, but I want to make sure.
Thanks,
Jeff
