Factory A/C Heater Core
Anyone know where to get a heater core for a 72' model with factory air conditioning? I've check O'reilly's, Advance, LMC, and Dennis Carpenter. All say without a/c

Re: Factory A/C Heater Core
This has come up before, and the factory AC heater cores are notoriously hard to find. Do a search here and you should find other threads about it.
I tried to find one for the longest time before I realized my AC wasn't the factory unit.

If you can't find one, get yours recored. If you can't do that, I have modified a similar one to work. It's not ideal.. I'll have to dig up the info again. The other challenge is replacement heater hoses.

Don't remember what part number I used. 93003 and 93009 were the closest modern one I found. They are rear units from explorer expedition or excursion around 97-06 year models. I cut the bend of tube and tried to swedge a barb as best as I could. The tubes aren't in the exact same spot and requires a little surgery on the hvac box. My daily driver was down and had to improvise. In retrospect may have been better to modify the box and keep the factory barbs.

Re: Factory A/C Heater Core
All good info. Thanks guys. I talked to a guy today had a radiator shop recore one for him. It was for a different application. He said he was well pleased with what they done. I'll probably look into that. But I have no problem retrofitting something close that's currently available either. I just don't want to do a major hack job. I also know a guy that may have a used one. I may pick up just in case also.

Looks like the one I bought from RockAuto awhile back. Nipples look a hair shorter but probably just fine.
