Motor Mounts

Post by f100Colorado »

Hello,
New to the site.
I've got a 1965 F100 that I've had since 1981. I know this site is about 67+, just looking for some help. I'm putting a 1964 390 FE in my 1965, and was wondering if there's any motor mounts or adapters on the market for this swap.
Thanks.

As far as I know, the FE went into the earlier trucks, so you should be able to find a stock set that fit. If not, you should be able to make a set for a newer truck work (at worst, drill mounting holes in the cross-member). I will point out that power steering wasn't an option until later, so if you ever want power steering, make sure you get a set (or mod a set) that will clear the steering box.

The 64 block only has 2 motor mount holes on each side of the block

The required mounts need a block with 4 motor mount holes on each side....65 and up blocks have this

You can make an adapter out of 5/16 steel plate to mount to the 2 motor mount holes on the 64 block and that extends to the 2 holes on the rubber mount designed for the 65
