Well unfortunately after hearing back from my machinist my Sons 360 wont be able to be rebuilt for a multitude of reasons. The plan was to have that engine professionally rebuilt and throw sniper EFI on it so the kiddo had the dependability of FI.
With that being said I have been looking in craigslist and found a great deal on a 2001 Mountaineer 5.0 with tranny. I would still have it rebuilt with a little umder a 100k on both. The question I have for the experts here can I get an after market harness for this engine and transplant it in my boys 68 f100? I know ford performance and Ron Francis make aftermarket harness for 89-93 mustang 5.0s. But before I pull the trigger in this can those harneses be adapted to work with the mountaineer 5.0? Thanks in advance for the help everyone.

Find something that will work with the trans or find another FE.

Pro M in Detroit. They are the foremost experts on Ford mass air EFI. The 2001 Mounty has a distributorless ignition (coil packs), but uses a cam sensor that resides in the distributor hole. This allows you to either keep the packs or run a coil on plug setup...or switch it out for a mustang distributor and single coil. The Mounty/Explorer 5 liters are fitted with GT40E heads, intake and a larger than mustang throttle body. You'll need headers that fit GT40 heads and the bump...shorties should work fine...the factory manifolds suck and there is 1 set of headers available for the Ex/Mounty that run $900, if you can get them. They have cast pistons, smallish cams and valve springs that can only handle a stock mustang can upgrade. Of course, a set of Trick Flow springs and you can run just about any Ford cam you want. Forged pistons are only needed with power adders like high boost or nitrous. I actually have a 2001 Mounty donor that may wind up in my '72.
Here is another hurdle, transmission. Is your possible donor AWD or RWD? If it's AWD, as I suspect, the trans must come apart to install a RWD tailshaft and housing. There are tons of other options that can be found as an alternative. You will also need the small block frame stands for the engine mounts. Hope this helps.

Wow you are crazy smart. Didn't even think about the all wheel question. I guess I will pass on this and go a different route.
