A can of starting fluid is your friend here. With the engine running use short bursts of the spray around the carb gasket surfaces and around the main shaft bores. When / if the carb is pulling air (most of the time this is the issue) the idle on the engine will decrease right when the spray hits it.
A lot of guys will use carb cleaner for this but I've always used starting fluid as it leaves no residue at all to deal with later.
What engine is in the truck? I love...my Motorcraft carbs.

240
weird deal here
not sure what the hell happened. barn find, old syrup in carb, clean out, rebuild. runs great then wont idle months later.
take it back off. like three times and still wont idle after cleaning everything again. last time wont start. then thinking Im done. I decide to take the top off yet again cause the thought I messed the float up but I see gas in there. so I try one more time. runs like normal now.

don't have a clue...….

I was chasing some of the same grimlines. Turned out to be the terrible points that are made these days get an electronic ig. If you don't already have one. And I have a 69 240 set your points see if your idle issues subside and for how long.
