rust repair in my cowl

well this sucks. my cab is solid...floors, roof, etc, the only bad place is the corners of the cowl under the dash. ive poked around and found the bad areas. i'm going to cut and weld in patches, any tips? anyone know what gauge the cowl is made of? wish me luck.

Cut out what you can and sand blast the rest
coat the metal with a weld through coating or a 2 part epoxy.
20 ga cold roll is a good choice. 22 ga is easier to form 18 gets a little stiff to bend.
