Hi,

How mechanically Inclined are you?

If so, I would consider rebuilding it yourself.

X2 the c6 for the fe series ford engines has a specific bell housing pattern that may drive the price of replacement up versus a small block. If your not comfortable i would say check into your local "old school trans shop" not aamco. What's your goals for the truck? Welcome to Fordification.

Depending on where you live, there should be some shops that sell rebuilt transmissions near you. I live three hours from Los Angeles, and there are plenty of shops that carry rebuilt C6 trannies for $500 with a 90-day warranty. Or, you can spend $1200 for one that's done right. I was given a C6 from a '71, and decided to rebuild it myself. Messy, but not difficult. I didn't do anything with the valve body, other than cleaning it out (I tipped it over, and water ran out). The rest was easy-peasy. I'm finding the hard part to be selecting the correct torque converter! :hmm:

Oh, and :wel:
