Started to work on the hood. But, after screwing around with this for a while, I realized I'm going to have to have this thing dipped. After checking around, I found someone that does this just across the river, in Council Bluffs, IA. He wasn't in the phone book heard it through word of mouth. Turns out I know the guy from my cruising Dodge Street days. That is going to him on Saturday. Also the hood hinges will be getting zinc coated, those go in next week.

Coated and painted the new frame box section around the fuel tank, so it can go in for good.

Okay, things are taking shape. I had to make some holes for the inner fenders to bolt to the 78 core support, 3 on each side. I decided to use U-clips to fasten the bolts, so also made insertion holes for those, using drill , and then shaping the hole with a die grinder. Inners bolted up perfectly. I will have to drill out one side, for the rear inner fender straps, that connect it to the body mounts.

Drivers side fender installed. I will have to do some adjusting, the front of the fender is low.

Picked up the hood from the chemical stripper. He had to dip this thing 3 times, and still couldn't get all of that blue off, actually had to apply aircraft stripper in a few spots. He said that blue was really thick. But, won't take but a quick clean up, then DA the whole thing, and it'll be ready for epoxy.

Also had him dip the deflector that goes behind the grill at the top, came out nice.

One thing on the hood I will have to address, there a few spots with pinholes, that I will have to replace with new metal, on the underside. But, since I'm running out of nice weather, I'm going to go ahead, and shoot the inner braces with an inner panel sealant from SEM, then get this thing in epoxy. I'll address these spots next spring.

The weather finally cooperated, and I could get some epoxy down. I had the hood, front grill support, and a few spots on the cab and front fenders to shoot. This is the last of what I needed to shoot for the year, so I'm glad this is done!

Had to wait until both boys got home last night, so we could throw the hood on.

Did you have to reattach the inner support frame to the hood? If you did what did you use? My 1967 Step side hood is kind of floppy when I close it.

I haven't noticed the hood skin being loose, I'll have to check and see. Got a few goodies from Santa (aka the wife), new SS brake line set, new front parking brake cable, the rubber hood bumpers, and the cargo light switch.

Found some goodies on Craigslist. A yard in Lincoln, Nebraska got in a 1970 F-100. I'm really surprised this thing was in the yard, it was really clean. But, they wouldn't sell it whole. I went and snagged the doors on it, they are straight and clean. Also, grabbed the front stone deflector. Would have liked to grab the bed, had the side factory tool box, but, they wanted too much for it, and the floor was iffy on it.
