New Ford owner.
Hello everybody. I recently got a restored 1971 F100 and am excited to be a part of the community. I have already found tons of other old Ford lovers out here in Montana. I posted a nice video of the rig on YouTube. Check it out. https://youtu.be/LFr1VLEQQkI

Re: New Ford owner.
I want to thank everybody for the nice welcomes and compliments. Just a little backstory. I have greatly enjoyed others stories, so I will include my own. I had been looking for a for a bump or dent style truck for quite some time. I had started to become more and more frustrated by the vehicles that were continually being listed. Either the owner wanted a ridiculous sentimental value that would make any offer seem offensive, or it was a rust bucket some high schooler put 35's and glass packs on (no offense intended for those that are into this). I live in the mountains and needed a work truck, so 2WD and SWB were out of the question. Where I live a '94 Tacoma with 240k will sell for 9 grand, which put any reasonable "newer" vehicle out of the running as well. I guess this was how I justified springing for a beautiful restored '71 F100.
My love for older vehicles came from a young age growing up in a central Idaho Forest Service cabin. Every night the family would load up into our '67 Jeepster Comando for the evening "boat ride" down one of the many mountainous mining roads to watch the sunset and see the stars. This Jeep was the kind of adventure that always needed to be parked facing downhill and the parking brake was all the rocks I could pile in front of the tires. Later this would be replaced by my dads '80 F150 that he had the Mexicans that lived across the street drop a new motor in. That became our new boat, but now it was time for my own. After I watched how much time and money it took to get the '80 back on the road I was convinced that it made more financial sense to find a mostly restored vehicle. I love working on vehicles, but I just couldn't justify buying a 4500$ truck that needed that much again to keep if running. I understand the love and desire to save the old family truck, but after doing it once I wanted a stronger starting point.
That leads me to the absolutely gorgeous F100 that I found in the Bitteroot Valley of western Montana. I found a very nice retired couple living on their beautiful family estate. I counted five other bump Fords on their property. I really wouldn't be surprised if he was a Fordification member too. If he is I hope he sees this. Anyways, he was a longtime mechanic by trade but was new to body work. He had done a complete frame off restoration and brought the '71 back to a very nice clean stock work truck. He claimed it was his learner for body and paint, it could fool me. Best part, he was ready to sell it for a very nice price so he could start on the next. Long story sort, I am a very excited new '71 Ford F100 owner.
Thanks to Fordification I have been able to find answers to just about everything I could think of. This community and its combined knowledge is second to none. I am very appreciative to have found it. I like many others was instantly excited about the prospect of power steering. Using a '79 Bronco system for the 4x4 is brilliant. I would expect nothing less for a solution from Fordification. In the end, I believe it may be too expensive of an upgrade at this time. I may just have to lift more weights. I will post more images of the restoration as soon as I find a way to shrink the file sizes. Thank you everybody again. This site is the best.
