Fuel tank
Just bought a 1970 f250. Body is off 2wd but its sitting on 4wd chassis. Looking for fuel tank options. It currently has one tank that is not original. It sits on left side and is "u" shaped around the frame. I looking for just plain saddle tank but the catalogs say for 2wd. Anyone know why it wouldn't fit on 4wd??

Re: Fuel tank
Where are you located? I had two saddle tanks on my F250 4x4 when I got it, but I went away from saddle tanks. If you are close it may be something you may like to consider.

Re: Fuel tank
This might be of some help http://www.fordification.com/tech/fueltank01.htm With a 4wd frame you have the option of the dent side tank between the rear frame rails. The factory side mount tank is also available if you can acquire the mounting brackets and skid plate or figure out another way to install it.

Re: Fuel tank
The F-250 4x4 chassis is narrower than the 2wd. As the transfer case sits further back you can't run an inside the frame mid mounted tank and most rear mount tanks are to wide.
What I have decided to try on my truck is a rear tank out of a newer cab and chassis truck as they have the same frame rail width as a highboy. I'm waiting on my parts hunting buddy to find me a tank and then I will start on the conversion and see where it goes.

I had two saddle tanks on my 4wd. I no longer use them, but if you want photos for reference I could try and get them to you
