C-6 to AOD swap

I am thinking of ways to get better mileage from my '69. It has a 360 (maybe 390 unsure yet as I bought the truck as with a rebuilt 390). It runs strong but gets FE mileage. Instead of messing with the rear end (9" - 3.50 gears), I am wondering about changing to an AOD and wondered what this swap might entail and if anyone has ever done it? I understand the the AOD is non-computer, is this correct?
