HELP PLEASE. MODULATOR VALVE PIN C6???

I was replacing my mod valve in a c6 and when I pulled it out a 2 inch pin was in the middle of the old one ?? Do I remove it and put it in the new one ? I've never seen this pin before on other mod valves I've changed but maybe they were in side and never came out. THANKS GUYS.

Thanks. Some fluid came out of the vacuum hose so I'm sure the other one was toast.
