NP435 / T-18 compatability

Post by stink bear »

I'm getting ready to do a tranny & t-case swap on my 72 F100. I can use a T-18 and an NP205 out of a 79 Bronco I recently acquired, or convert my NP435 to 4wd if I can find the parts and bolt the 205 to it.
From the info I have been able to find, it appears that it would make little difference in strength and functionality, and it appears that the 2 combos would be the same length so there would be no difference in drive shaft lentgh needed.
My question is do the two tranny's share the same crossmembers and mounts?
Thanks

Are you sure its a T18 ?
I believe a '79 Bronco should have come with a NP 435.

Almost positive it is a T-18.
I haven't actually seen the truck yet as I am working overseas, the seller sent me pics of it though, it says Borg-Warner right on it, and if I remember right he said the door tag code indicates a T-18.

Yes 70's Fords can have a Borg Warner or a New Process trans. Neither is unusual and they are directly interchangeable. You can also use a later T19 with synchro low.
