Buying a 1967 F-100. What to look for?

Post by KrakenSkullz »

Hi guys (and gals),

I'm buying a 1967 Ford F-100 off of craigslist and from what I can tell in the photos, it looks to have a sound body and the guy selling it claims that the engine runs but it hasn't been driven in a few years.

I was looking for advice on what to look for and what is a dealbreaker if I go out there and start poking around.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm planning on going out this Saturday (late notice I know!), so if anyone catches this, let me know. I'll be checking the forum throughout the day.

Your question would best be served in the general discussion section, but for starters.....

Check the cab corners for rust. Tap a screwdriver point on the floor pans for same.

But like I said.. move to the general section and you'll get tons of replies with all kinds of good info.

Check the cab mounts, my front ones were gone. The radiator support also tends to rot. Verify that the title VIN matches the truck VIN. Try turning the engine by hand, look for water in the oil, see if the doors sag when opened. Nothing , except title issue, is a deal breaker for me if I get the right deal.
