Starting with out clue

Post by Joesnyder66 »

Hello everyone, just picked up 1971 f 100 and just want to start off by fixing a couple small things. My first small project is to get the turn signals to work. The passenger side works inside and out but the driver side rear dosent doesn't work and the front comes on but doesn't blink. The emergency blinkers all work except for the rear driver side and the interior left dash dosent work.

It starts Small, Before you know it you have it completely disassembled and replacing parts you didn't know existed.

And soon you have parts all over everywhere! And you stand there wondering "How did THAT happen?" :o
Take lots of pictures, and get a big box of slider closing storage or freezer bags in various sizes, and label them with a sharpie as you take things apart. Trust me: you will not get it back together as soon as you think you will, and few things are as frustrating as looking at a pile of bolts wondering "Now where did these go?"

I had similar issues with my blinkers. Replaced the whole blinker assembly in the column everything works great now.

Ok. Just so everyone knows I'm from Ohio. Started to pull the instruments dash out to check the bulbs but can't get it out far enough to see the back side. The speedometer cable has no play in it. If I remove the speedometer cable is there anything I need to know before I disconnect? Thanks again for helping out.
