I'm doing some work on a local man's 67 F250. We've upgraded the rims to later model Ford rims, so as to take tubeless tires. The original split rims are in good shape--the truck's been in a shed a lot, still only about 65000 miles.
Don't know if there's a market for these rims or not, and I reckon they're too heavy to reasonably ship. Seems a shame to just scrap them.
I'm in central Iowa--about 35 miles NW of Des Moines.
Make offer? [Or persuade me to junk them?]
Tires on the rims, with tubes... all holding air... only one of the 5 is semi-new, a 7.50 x 16 LT mud-n-snow.
Thanks,
Gary

I have a 67 f-250 but I didn't realize that it original came with split rims. Mine is a 4 x 4 but it must have later model rims.
I know what you mean about being a shame to just throw away parts, especially on a truck that is almost 50 years old. It's kinda like throwing away history to me.

Amen to that--"throwing away history". But I know I don't want to store the rims. The owner might be willing to... when I asked if I should look for a buyer for them, he said something like, "Sure--if I keep them, I'll forget where I put them, by the time anybody'd want them." Probably an exageration--he's pretty sharp and fit for someone coming up on 80.
I just figure that somebody's wanting to restore one of these trucks to "as originally equipped", and could use them. But of course he'd need to be somewhere's near central IA, and acquainted with this forum.

Most people, and tire shops, avoid split rims like the plague. The concept was there, but they turned out injuring several people over the years, and now there is a pretty good reason no one wants them. My advice is ditch the split rims, you will be much better off doing so...
