My brake lights and turn signals had begun acting erratic. Only later was I to realize that was because I had not secured the turn signal "cancelling" kit properly. In any event, I put the truck in the garage and found me a wiring harness for the rear lights on ebay ($10). also, ordered a replacement right-hand turn signal from LMC for $39. Started working on it last night. After I made my connections, I still only had running lights. Started scratching my head. Well, at least I can pull the steering wheel while I am waiting and begin installing my other ebay purchase, an aftermarket steering wheel (mine is cracked badly). While working on it, I noticed that my brake lights started working and working brightly. Realized my improperly secured turn signal cancelling device was the culprit.
This afternoon, after work will head back to "mom's garage" to try to complete the wiring harness installation and steering wheel swap.
Would like to drive it over to a swap meet in nearby Fredericksburg, Texas tomorrow morning.
Also, after seeing the nice, new shiny right-side tail light, my wife "authorized" the purchase of a left-hand tail light. Only LMC did not have the left-hand version. So I spent $70 on one from Autokrafters. Same price at National Parts Depot as well.
Additionally, applied some more Por 15 to the frame to area's where my wiring harness was secured (had pulled it all) and some other area's underneath the back of the truck.
And for S&Gs I installed a dome light cover.
What does not work is the air breather I found on a 69 f100 with 300CID six. It hits on my thermostat housing. So back to using my odd ball one from a 1966 for the time being.
I have located a 69 F100 in a salvage yard that has a lot less rust. I will be hauling it back to my home town and use it for a parts source. Interested to see if the 300 in it runs.
