Re: Hackster's 1968 f100 CV Swap
Thanks!!
Making a little bit of progress this week. Managed to get the bed bolted down with all new stainless carriage bolts. I turned the heads so they have a nice brushed finish on them and replace the tailgate handle hardware as well. Brushed the main on off switch as well as got it installed and a few other odds and ends with the rear.
I guess I didnt snap a pic of that though.....oops :emb:
Finally got an air filter that will work with this crazy setup and threw on the Made in the USA turbo blanket. I like how the turbo set up is turning out.
Spent today working in the cab. Cleaned a lot, I did not repaint the interior, I like that it was so clean and original looking so I went to it with some purple power and some polishing compound. Then turned to the floors. There was some light surface rust so I hit it with Rust Mort two times and began to lay down 40 sq. Ft. of Hush mat. Also made a patch panel for the old shifter hole and got that all sealed up.
So, I got the shifter out of its box and began looking at mocking it up, and my dad and I both realized that the beautiful black mustang buckets he brought all the way down from seattle might not be the best fit right now......So I we got to work tearing apart the pretty sad and beat up stock bench seat. A few repairs here and there, some new paint and burlap and put on my new seat cover.
Considering the local upholstery guy could not get to it for a week and a half and wanted $325.00 just to fix the springs put down new foam and install the covers. I am pretty happy, it cost me an afternoon, $9.00 in burlap and a dinner for the wife and my dad.
I am hoping that the lines in the covers from shipping go away in time, I will probably let it sit out in the sun for a few days and see what happens.
I was having a little bit of a tough time with direction on Monday when I got the truck back and just started working back to front. It seems to be a pretty good way at this point of maintaining momentum and looking a few steps ahead. I still have two days of vacation, then the weekend.
Probably be close to buttoned up in the interior tomorrow aside from door panels, then I will start on running the rest of the wiring up front and firewall work.

Thanks man.
Rushforth Rated x polished lips dark gray centers with no bolts just a clean 10 spoke wheel.
20x8.5 fronts 5.5 backspacing and 20x10.5 rears with 6.75 backspacing....I have a wider rearend than most.
I was suprised to see our fronts are exactly the same size....I dont think my truck is going to be as low as yours though. What front tires you running?
I would love to see your truck in person someday, clean clean build.

Thanks, would like to check your rig out too. I raised it back up quite a bit. It's about halfway between the super slammed look in the yard and the 4wd look on the lift. I think it's gonna be good at that height. My fronts are 245/40s

245's? Those have to look tiny next to those steam rollers on the back
I might have some questions for you on a couple of wiring items that have me stumped.
Been working pretty steady the last few days of my time off. Yesterday was almost a total bust out for physical therapy, an interview (work related) and chasing down parts.
Got the carpet all installed, cut out and fit. It fits very well, I am surprised, these repop carpet kits rarely fit well. Seat Cover fit very nice also.
Shifter got all mounted up on the floor as well. Turned out well and I really like the shifter too.
Since I neglected to post this up earlier, here is how the inside of the bed turned out with the brushed stainless hardware and the master kill switch brushed as well.
Manged to finally pick up all the t bolt clamps I wanted to use for the radiator hoses and got those installed along with the powdercoated upper and lower radiator hoses. I love T bolt clamps a lot.
So today was fun filled, pulled the grille and headlights back off and tucked the entire front harness up under the inner fenders. Spent most of the day soldering and heat shrinking, running wires all neat and clean and the best part of it, is that you cannot see any of it.....
All I have to show is the turn signal buckets and lenses. But now they are all wired up and should work once I turn on the power.
Got the fan mounted up to the radiator. Have a much smaller fan on the 5.3 in my volvo and it stays plenty cool. If I run into problems down the road, Ill get a shroud on it.
I have some wiring stuff that is frustrating me right now, need to get that sorted out hopefully tomorrow, then its back to work on Monday.
Getting close to needing fluids in this girl :secret2:
Wow i just decided to check in on your project and I am blown away!!!you are doing some awesome work. Are you going to do your own tuning yourself??
Thank you, probably not doing the tune myself...I have done a little bit of tuning on megasquirt, but nothing on the gm EFI Live stuff. There are a couple of people local that I think I can trust. I am not shooting for huge power but good reliable power.
As far as the grill goes, I think it might be a 69 grille, but I love it. I have seen lots of the early bump side grilles and this is by far the best looking in my opinion. I am certainly not a bumpside expert though.
Done working on the truck till next week.
I did manage to get it back together yesterday, the truck is just about fully wired (5 or 6 wires left to connect, but they are all run)
Its plumbed, wired and pretty much bolted together.
First time seeing it in the daylight.
I think I ordered everything else I need tonight to finish it up. Front coilovers are on their way along with a bunch of little stuff from LMC and Dennis Carpenter.
So looking forward to starting this thing up:nod:

Thank you! I appreciate the compliment, it keeps me motivated more than you can imagine.CrypticRacer13 wrote:Wicked build man!
Ordered up the Naake single adjustable coilovers yesterday and they should be here early next week for install in the frontend. Finally be able to get the front down where it should be. Also got a bunch of other little stuff ordered. New metal Heater control valve, seat lever knob, headliner a few firewall plugs, new brake pedal pad.
I still need to figure out some kind of overflow or catch can for the radiator, but can deal with that in a bit.
Talked to Jason at Rushforth, wheels are going to be very very close. Probably like a day or two before the show, if that. Going to try and order up some tires today and see how that goes....never ends does it?

What a cool build you've put together. I'm hoping that you'll make a video so we can see/hear it. I bet that truck will run hard too!

Of course it will get a little clip of the startup.1967AceStroker wrote:What a cool build you've put together. I'm hoping that you'll make a video so we can see/hear it. I bet that truck will run hard too!
I am shooting for somewhere north of 700 hp at the tires. Might need a cam swap to get me there but not much more than that. Should be fun streetable power.

Thats a really nice build you have going. One question where did you get all the bolts you used for the body panels? They look so clean and way better than the stock ones.

They are all stainless button head bolts, in the stock thread size, pitch and length with allen heads on them. Pretty much all the hardware is this, even the bolts for the bench seat.
Every bolt has a stainless washer under it and just a tiny bit of antiseize as well.
It was not terrible to build a box of fasteners for the truck, however it was pretty expensive.
They do look awesome though

Re: Hackster's 1968 f100 CV Swap
So these showed up Friday afternoon and hung out in my office all weekend along with a bunch of stuff from LMC Truck.
Headliner, seat slider knob and the wrong brake pedal pad.....I think it was my fault though.
But these are pretty sweet.
I have been sick for the last three days, battling some nasty ass cold but really hope to get some time to get all this stuff installed this week once I am feeling better. Having the truck not at ride height is just bothering me.
I heard From Aaron that the hood and door panels got some paint on them last week, they were waiting for them to harden up a little bit before bringing them over to install and align the hood and frontend.
