Frame is primered and painted, engine and Trans are in with valair dual disk. Fitting turbo down pipe and setting up clutch and brake hydros. Had the baby intermediate shaft made this last week. New pitman arm, old one was super sloppy. Hopefully make some decent progress in the next 2 weeks depending on my work schedule.

Looks like fun. I can only imagine how a P pump will run. I'm really happy how mine turned out.
What size down pipe did you end up with? On my 2wd I barely fit a 3" mandrel through the gap but it didn't seem to effect my EGT's so I'm happy.

It's a 4in, barely trimmed the frame rail and took a small section out of the floorboard I have to box a bit right up against the Trans tunnel. Yep I'm anxious to get it up and running. It's killing me, but at the same time I get burned out when I go outside to work on it some days.

Re: The 70 crew's progress-modifications and cummins swap
Yep, I ended up just making a list of everything I needed to do to get mine on the road. It was three typed pages long categorized by area and most of it is complete. I kept getting overwhelmed by how much needed done so the list helped me stay focused on each area of the truck. I'd just chip away at each area until I hit a stop point, write down what was missing or needed and go onto the next section.

Re: The 70 crew's progress-modifications and cummins swap
I hear ya I've made quite a few lists they really help. I usually try to accomplish at least one task if not just bolt on something small every time I'm out there and it gets gone one bolt at a time. That's what I did the first time I had it down to the bare frame and found myself thinking it would never get finished. My main demotivated is working a graveyard shift and not sleeping normal, hopefully about another month is what I'm shooting for.

I like the Steed manifold. He makes some badass parts. Get this thing on the road already. And give me a call, there's an update for the Quick Mount I need to send you.

It's getting closer. Fitted up for upper coolant line and intercooler boost tubes.
Then was figuring out belt routing, still need to measure.
Finally finished mounting the clutch hydros, in the middle of pedal mods for the pushrod attaching point.

Re: The 70 crew's progress-modifications and cummins swap
How much does your firewall flex with that setup? Mine with a stock Ford ZF5 really creaked and groaned even after adding another vertical rib in.
I also think you might want to have some more rubber in your radiator hoses. My engine really shakes the truck when it shuts down and I think that would fatigue the plastic radiator over time.
Looks really good, what size is you I/C plumbing?

I can't say how much flex till tomorrow. I'm finishing the mount on the pedal and I'll be able to bolt it up and actually push it and see what happens. What size plate did you use? I was thinking 1/4 with that bit of mass should hold up but if not I can add a larger plate inside.
There is a little more gap than it shows on the coolant lines but we can always cut the hard line down a little if it is tugging on the radiator which is fully rubber mounted also. My common rail 5.9 is pretty abrupt when it shuts off also, appreciate the heads up, I encourage the extra thoughts and critiquing.
I/C piping is all 3in, everything matches up nice with the cummins and ford I/c.

Re: The 70 crew's progress-modifications and cummins swap
Mine was around 3/16". Even with the added vertical 'rib' I could see everything flexing when the kid pushed on the pedal. I don't think Ford ever intended for the firewall to get stressed that way. Kind of how late '80's Rangers would crack out the firewall.
I like the 3" pipe, gonna need to find a new intake adapter though for mine.

Re: The 70 crew's progress-modifications and cummins swap
Great. I'm headed down to the bolt store and be back soon to finish up and se what kind of messy movement I gout out of mine! That's cool, was thinking about mounting mine where you did yours off that end, definitely looks cool that way. Be back with results soon

Re: The 70 crew's progress-modifications and cummins swap
Well low and behold it has more movement than I'm happy with so I think I'm gonna go with a vertical stiffener on the outside along with one on the inside that runs from the inner cowl to the floor pan. The fun never ends!
