65 on 03 CVPI chassis

Post by s281scsaleen »

Hi everyone I'm Jason from NC. I have been a member for a while and I think it's time for me to do a post. I'm currently building a 1965 f100 and I'm going with the complete CVPI chassis I will be using everything that I can from the donor. Currently I have purchased a 03 CVPI on the cheap really it's to nice of a car to hack but that why I got it. I will post lots of progress pics and will appreciate any advice or help on this subject I plan to mock everything up and eventually air ride the truck. Thanks and this is gonna be fun.

Here is the 03 CVPI I got it for $600.00 on Click had a broke axle which screwed up the axle housing so I found another rear end out of another cop car with 3:27 gears for $215.00. Here we go!!!!

And the body is off the vic I'm saving the floor and I drilled out the spot welds and kept the firewall. Next is getting the body off the truck I think I'm gonna start with the bed and work my way forward. Feel free to jump in anytime I can use all the help and advice I can get. Thanks

I would start with the cab and work my way out to the ends. IIRC the front cab mounts will almost bolt directly to the CV body mount locations. This gets everything lined up where it should be. IIRC the front fenders will then align with the front wheels. IIRC you will have to modify the steps inside your door openings to clear the frame.

I wonder what the benefit is with going this route vs. swapping out the front cross member and adding an Explorer 8.8?
