Brake drums 70 F250 4x4
Want to replace front/rear drums on my 6800 gvw 360 4sp 70 F250 4x4 all original running gear...my axle code is a 24 on my vin plate...looking online for drums there are different axle weight ratings (from 3000 to 3500) for different drums... does anyone know how to figure that out? Thanks!

Hi,
The way I understand it, ... to tell the difference between the 3000lb and 3500lb front Dana44 , count the bolts on the back of the ball that hold the felt seals in. A 3500lb axle will have 12 bolts and the 3000lb will have 8. The ball on the 3500lb is much larger than the 3000lb one.
The "24" axle code is for the rear axle. Sounds like yer 70 Highboy is the same as mine as no front axle code is on my data plate either.
