1967 F100 Resurrection - On The Road Again!

I drove it out on the highway last night for a few miles. No tags, sticker, or insurance. 65 mph = 2000 rpm. That overdrive sure smooths things out. 2 things I can't stand, leaks and squeaks.

1. The Serp belt is still squeaking like hell. After I drove it last night (squealing all the way) it stopped squeaking at idle. I am going to let that go for a while and see if I can rid the belt of the gobs of conditioner I put on it when I had the old pulley on it.

2. The rear oil leak isn't getting any better. I am not sure if I screwed up the pan gasket or the rear main it leaking. So I order a new seal, gasket, oil pump, and pan today. Figured if I was going to do it, get'er done.

Any tutorials on replacing the rear main seal without pulling the crank you guys know of would be helpful. I have the old school one inside the rear main cap.

Wow! You ain't messing around in Texas with getting them freeze plugs out. Here in the People's Republic that's probably illegal in some way, and for sure would require our standard warning about how it's going to release chemicals that will give you cancer.

Here in Great State of Texas, we don't give cancer to ourselves. We rely on the factories in Mexico to puke stuff up in the air so it catches the prevailing wind towards us. Then the EPA screams at us for having the most air polluted national park.

Drove it again tonight and used a phone GPS to make sure out Speedo was working right. It is!

Data for you on a 351w with and AOD tran and 3.88 posi:

60 mph = 1850 RPM
65 mph = 2000 RPM
70 mph = 2200 RPM

So much smoother than the days of old.

Hey pinch when u bled your brakes after installing all your new components did u have to use one of those vacuum brake bleeders to get all the air out? Or did u just bleed it the manual way?

I ask cause I've bleed my brakes 2 times now the old fashioned way and they still feel real soft. And yes I did bench bleed my MC.

I ask cause I've bleed my brakes 2 times now the old fashioned way and they still feel real soft. And yes I did bench bleed my MC.

Did it the manual way again today. They will stop, like standard drum brakes. I expect power disc brakes to put a dent in my fore head with the steering wheel.

I'm also thinking the remand boosters are just not cutting it these days. You have a remand booster right. My fairlane has a new universal booster and man even with drum brakes it will throw u into the windshield

You could also try vacuum bleeding it like me. It's only $20 at harbor fright I'm told.

The booster is from the PO. No telling what it is. I was thinking that might be the problem. I will look in to the vacuum pump.
