Bumpsiders club plaques: 2nd order has arrived!!

Post by Calfdemon »

So I do not have to re-explain what this is all about, please quickly browse through this thread for more detailed information: http://www.fordification.com/forum/view ... &sk=t&sd=a

Now that hopefully you have read that thread, to summarize, I am taking orders for the "Bumpsiders" plaque for Fordification members. Please post in this thread how many you want so I can get a total of what the order will look like. When you post interest, I will send a PM to you with PayPal information to get the money to me as I will be collecting orders and money until Feb. 28th which will be the ordering deadline. All money must be in my hand no later than Feb 28th. I will then place the order the first week of March and they estimate a 4-8 week turnaround. So hopefully I will have the plaques in my possession in April and then send them out to everyone that ordered them.

Upon doing the math, the total cost per plaque is right around $40. This should cover the setup fee, the cost of the plaque, the cost of the painting, the cost of the shipping to me, and the cost of the shipping back out to you. If we get an order of over 25, then it may drop a few dollars and I can either send those few (2 or 3) dollars back to each of you, or I can donate it directly to Keith through PayPal as a donation to this website. I would prefer to do the donation route, but I will do whatever the majority wants. I am not making any money off of this and am in fact donating my time to get this done because I want one!

Here is what the plaque should look like when done and these will be 5"x8" castings. The white will be the raised aluminum and the black will be the painted sunken areas.

This was the original design, see the 2nd picture for the current rendition

CURRENT RENDITION:

And here are examples of the type of car club plaque I am talking about (for the younger crowd... lol): http://www.relicsandrods.com/Cities/San ... Valley.htm

Again, please post your order in this thread and you have until Feb. 28th to send the money via PayPal. If you do not want to use PayPal, I can take check or cash, but it will need to be here well before the 28th.

*** Please make sure you include you user name along with your payment. Without the user name, I will have a hard time matching up the real name with who is supposed to get the plaque. So both names please.

I'm sure it would, but I didn't want to catch any heat for "selling" something on the general forum, so I figured the parts for sale forum would be a better place. :D

I also will be updating this thread occasionally with a running list of who has paid for a plaque. That way everyone can see the numbers and where we are at. This will also serve as a tool to make sure you are on the list if you paid. If for some reason you have paid and are not on the most current list as having ordered a plaque, then let me know so I can correct that. The only way to get on the list is if the money is actually in my hand. Showing interest gives us a general idea on what the final total MIGHT be, but actually paying gives us all a list with numbers that are guaranteed. The final list on Feb 28th will be the list I will be placing the order for.

Another quick update... I went ahead and paid the non-refundable setup fee today and sent the art off. So this is happening finally.

Also, I know that at least one person asked if it was possible to get a plaque unpainted. I can order the plaque unpainted if you so desire but it will still be the same cost as I am paying for a bulk order of painted plaques. The unpainted plaque is good if you want to paint it yourself or chrome it, or whatever. All plaques will be painted unless you request otherwise. The plaques will be coming with the low areas having black paint and raised will be bare aluminum color.

Here is the paid list so far with the number of plaques ordered, and the member getting it. I will be cutting and pasting this list in new updates as the list grows.

Artwork update:

I am having to slightly redesign the plaque as the artwork I used when I designed it is pretty pixilated. I used the art from the Fordification business cards and they were pretty small in nature and not the highest quality of art. When I got done tweaking it, it was even worse. So they asked me to clean it up or use different art so we have a better quality casting. I have found a few different candidates of artwork that should work better and am currently working on it.

I will obviously post the new rendition in this thread for all to see, but it really wont change much. The truck I am using is pretty much in the same angle, and I am keeping a 67 grille on it (the art is currently a 70-72 front end). And for those of you that did not like the "wagon wheels", you can rejoice as the new wheels have hubcaps on them. :D The dentside mirrors are also gone and the new truck will now have the era correct sport mirrors on it.

So when it is reworked, I will put it up here. All of the lettering is the same and will be in the same general layout. I am making the truck a little bit bigger though so the Fordification.com will be lower and the Bumpsiders will be a little higher. The plaque will be a little more filled out with less blank space when done. It will be a little bit of work to get it right, and hopefully the quality of the lines will be good enough when I submit it this time.

I am still working on the new art this weekend. Hopefully I will be posting a new rendition either tonight or tomorrow depending on when I finish. Of course, it still needs to pass the company's requirements. But I am cleaning up the lines as best I can (very time consuming).

Here is the current list... Only 4 weeks left till I place the order.

Ok... After about 6 hours of work in Photoshop over the last 2 days, I hopefully have a clean version of the plaque that will work. I ended up scrapping the art for the old truck which is what I got off of the Fordification business cards. I ended up downloading both of the free line-art drawings that Keith has up on this site and pretty much used parts of both of them, and then did a lot of freehand drawing on the computer to add things, take things out, and clean up all of the lines the best I could.

Here are the 2 drawings I started with:

Used the front grille from this drawing:
Image

Used the rest of the truck from this one:
Image

And here is the final design that I am submitting for approval. The truck is at a little bit of a different angle if you compare it to my first layout and I made the truck slightly bigger this time. I just moved the Bumpsiders, FORDification, and the years around a little. But other than that, it is basically the same design with cleaner artwork. I also lost the wagon wheels and dent mirrors that a few mentioned in the first rendition. So hopefully there isn't much to complain about in this design other than the 70-72 hood letters on the 67 truck.

Image

Let me know what you guys think and hopefully there are no complaints and we can move forward with this design.
