Thanks for the feedback!

I personally like it WAY better than the 1970-72 running light that was there before......but it is one of those things that looks better in person. As you walk around the back corner it almost makes the whole back corner seem more round. (that likely makes no sense, but it is hard to describe!) It is probably not worth the effort on the earlier bumps, but for those who think the running light of the later trucks looks like something that belongs on a horse trailer like I do then I think it is worth it. I will try and post some better pics of it soon! It is sitting in a trailer waiting for transport home once the roads aren't so icy! Lousy Canadian winters :x

I have a '70 bed on my truck & have been looking (not real seriously yet) for an early bed without markers. I think you have done a great job with the truck especially given all the setbacks you have had. Any time somebody modifies something there will always be mixed reviews. As 1 who can't leave my truck alone I get both sides of the coin often. I will say I get way more positive than negative but when the end of the day comes I am building my truck for me. As long as you are happy that is all that matters. For some reason it makes me think of the late '50s Chevrolet Apache trucks. They are nowhere near the same looking. The mind can be a scary place! Again I think you have done an awesome job with your truck!

I went back & looked at it again & do think as you do, it makes the rear look rounder. Maybe that is part of why it looks older to me.

Well don't I feel silly with my foot in my mouth!!
You have a great looking truck, I'm especially jealous of the stance (and the short bed). I forgot it had early grille with later box, but I think you must agree with me that the light looks cheap because I don't see a light in the hole!

After doing some google searches I see the resemblance to the 1958-59 Apache...scary! Oh well, I knew there had to be something nice about those old Chevys! :D

I also deleted my marker light in my bed. But I just used a piece from a 67-69 bed and it looks like a regular 67-69 bed. I like the custom touch on your bed though! Like mentioned above, I'm glad you stuck with it and now have a nice truck to show for.

Well that's just not nice! I understand its a ford forum, but even you ford lovers have to admit that there are some fantastic GM vehicles. I am not biased to any one brand, and love individual cars for different reasons. Don't get me wrong I am hooked on my '72 bump, but i dont have anywhere near the attachment to my bump as i do for my '55 chevy truck. The lines on the 50's trucks are amazing (the 53-56 fords are awesome as well!)
here is my stepside chevy, now tell me those lines are not nice!

anyways, off the soap box...
I have read through your build, sorry it took so many beds and so many trucks to get you where you can finally see an end in sight, but congrats on sticking to your project and not giving up on it at times (like when your first bodyman set you back 2 years and a heap of good useable parts...
good idea waiting for better weather to get it home safely, you have had so many setbacks its wise to just take it slow and steady and make sure you dont damage it so close to reassembly!!

Very sharp looking truck!
I was just joking about the Chevy comment. I've driven enough different brands to know that there are lots of quality stuff out there, it doesn't all have a Ford oval on it either. When it comes to classic trucks Chevy made some nice ones....I've always been a fan of the 1966 Chevys myself.

One thing I don't mention is that one of the things I also did in the last few years was help my friend build his truck, and it just happens to be a Chevy

When I was shopping for a "toy" I had a long list of acceptable trucks (it had to be a truck). '28-'41 Ford, '61-'72 Ford, '28-'37 Chevrolet, '48-'57 Chevrolet, '60-'72 Chevrolet, '80-'86 Chevrolet, '28-'40 Dodge/Plymouth, '57 Dodge SWB Sweptline (had fins!). All had to be SWB. The bump was high on my list & I am happy with it but I think I would have been happy with any of the others as well. The main problem I have with Chevrolet trucks other than GM has always let me down in the worst places is they are everywhere. It was nice pulling into the local cruise in & having the only SWB bump with maybe a couple LWB trucks.

When I was young & had no clue what I had. I had several vehicles that fit the category. I had a '56 Cameo. It had a '57 hood on it. The guy next door had a '48-early '55 5 window SWB truck (just like the red one in the pic). I always loved his truck. After I sold the Cameo I found out he loved the Cameo & would have traded straight across.

your friend has a nice Advance Design 5-window!
What are your plans for the interior of your truck when you get it home from paint?

Going to keep it fairly simple. I have bucket seats for it, then just throw some carpet down and call it good. The dash is filled and painted and the ash tray is filled. Put a good sound system in it but nothing too crazy. All the upholstery will be black, should look good enough for a weekend cruiser.
