This is just a general question related to all makes that popped into my head while reading my car magazines. I'm always reading about these cars that are restored with NOS parts and I see them on EBAY all the time.
For those of you in the "know," when are these going to run out? I mean, 40 years after these cars were produced and I don't know how many years since the Big 3 stopped making the replacement parts, they still keep showing up.
Maybe I don't have a good understanding of how many parts were made...
Just thinking outloud here, any thoughts welcome.
When will the NOS parts run out?

I predict they will be all gone when the last one is sold.

re: When will the NOS parts run out?
Heck, every dealership in the country got stocked to the gills with NOS parts. When the demand for those parts decreased and as new ones came in, a lot of the time they got stuffed up into the attic or warehouse to be forgotton about until that business gets sold or goes under. Every now and then you'll see E-bay auctions for complete semi-loads of NOS parts, so they really aren't in too short a supply. However, they ARE limited, and as such, whoever owns them knows that and can charge an arm and a leg because of it.

There will be parts for a long time. People are still finding NOS parts for 30s cars and there weren't near as many of those made.

December 17th, 2062...4:07pm Pacific Standard time. But they will be re-stocked again because the guy decided to buy a junk yard part and returned it. It will sit on the shelf another 14yrs because everyone assumes all NOS is gone as reported in Hot Rod magazine in the Jan. issue, 2063.
