Just getting it started,
1971 F351 with Dump bed. So far I have a radiator and battery invested $126 and some change.. But here she is. The issue I am having though is getting it to turn over. But I almost have that traced down. After all it has been sitting since 1991. So today after feeding the calves I'll bypass the starter relay and see if that is the issue. of if it is the ignition switch. Personally I think it is the ignition switch but we'll see.

Re: Just getting it started,
Thanks! With all that your site has it has helped guide me in the direction of getting it going. Not sure I am going back to a bench seat or not. I am thinking a center letdown console off a 150 or something. But today I did get it to turn over. So next is to test the ignition switch since I had to bypass on the solenoid to turn it over. But I am excited. The seat is going to run me from $30 for a bench to $35 for anything other. I am excited. I'll be taking the seat out tomorrow. Checking some wiring between calves and rotating cows.

Thank you! About to pull the seat out after some bush hogging. Do some wire runs and test that ignition switch. Looking forward to getting it cranked up.

Yeppers I am 99% that it is. But I think the ignition switch may be another issue. Would that relay kill power everywhere else except the emergency flasher?

Re: Just getting it started,
Defiantly the relay is one issue. Found another with the carb. and choke. took the choke off and checked it out yesterday. If we get the hay down in time today I'll be heading to get a few parts. It has been so long since I worked on a real carb. there is one Q. I have. There is a hardline tube broken off the passenger side valve cover that runs from the back side if the 2100 carb. And another soft line coming from same side in front of the carb. I have yet to be able to identify those. I think one is for the choke but not sure at all. I'll grab a picture of the carb today. Found a great site on the carb itself but it doesn't have the diagram's of the hook ups as far as vacuums and so forth. Any help would be appreciated once I get the pictures posted.

Re: Just getting it started,
There were too many variations of 2100 and 2150 to tell you much without seeing yours. Try to get pics of all sides, I should be able to id any ports. Also, if there is a circular casting mark on the drivers side of the fuel bowl look for a number in it, like 1.08, 1.14 or 1.21. That will decode the cfm of your carb. Plus, if you're lucky it might still have a little metal tag on it that has the calibration number.
Post up what you can! Good luck bailing & stacking that hay
Edit: The soft line that connects to the passenger side in front of and slightly below the choke is your spark port. Connect your distributors vacuum advance can to it.

Re: Just getting it started,
Ok there are a total of 16 pictures I think. After a 5 min dip after today's cattle work I took it off and got it cleaned enough for these numbers and the views requested. I think I'll go ahead and get a rebuild kit for it or go to the pick & Pull and grab one. But that may be a bit. This is going to be an on-going project through out the summer probably. Maybe sooner. ( I wished ). Three at a time. next post to have more with the numbers.
The middle picture here is what has me. Not sure where this goes. next post shows it connected to a hard alum tube with a small clamp.
