Where To Find Some Leaf Springs
I have a 68 F 100 with a 4 inch lift. It has blocks for the lift in the rear. i broke and bent one of the leaf springs. They are 2.5 in wide or maybe a little less. I cant find any of these springs anywhere. ANY Ideas for where to find some? Or should I just cut off all the old shackle mounts and go with a 3 inch wide spring setup like a 70's model truck. any input welcome!

Posting your signature under your posts has so...many benefits allowing folks here to help you. One such benefit would be to tell you where a "spring & axle" shop is near you so you can have a new set made.

Re: Where To Find Some Leaf Springs
i just put new leaf springs and shocks under the front of my '71 hiboy after one of my mainsprings broke. I got my leaf springs from LMC at about $175 a set.

Just wondering if your truck sits level after installing the new springs. Mine doesn't and they are just OEM replacement ones from General Spring.Norton wrote:i just put new leaf springs and shocks under the front of my '71 hiboy after one of my mainsprings broke. How does your truck sit with those replacement springs? Is it an F-250 High boy? Is it still nose down, and by how much?

Re: Where To Find Some Leaf Springs
Might keep in mind there are TWO completely different front spring packs for 67-77 F-250 4x4's. Probably several other minor variations within those, but 5 leaf and 6 leaf front packs make a difference. 6 leaf trucks (7700 GVW) don't sag nearly as much (if at all) compared to the 5 leaf trucks.
My '70 sat fairly level when it had the stock suspension under it. It had the 6 leaf front pack. 2" front springs would probably put it slightly nose up compared to proper original springs.

Re: Where To Find Some Leaf Springs
Thanks for the reply. Mine is the 6800 GVW (F260) model. I've heard they had a nose-down stance from the factory. I'm debating either the Skyjacker springs up front or a set from General Spring in Kansas City. General sells a stock set but they will add whatever extra height I want to them and it comes out to about the same price as the Skyjackers after shipping, if only I could figure out how much to add.averagef250 wrote:Might keep in mind there are TWO completely different front spring packs for 67-77 F-250 4x4's. The ones that General Spring advertises are 6-leaf springs, they claim a weight rating of 1550lb each. Do these look like they would be identical to the stock 7700 GVW springs? If so, do you anticipate any fitment issues installing them on a 6800GVW frame? Think they'll be a direct bolt-in?

Re: Where To Find Some Leaf Springs
The 7700 frames had overload brackets in the rear otherwise identical.
They didn't have a nose down stance when new....Seen quite a few with 1/2 million miles that didn't sag in the front, but they were all 6 leaf front trucks.
I think you should look at original pictures of these trucks- They show perfectly well how the trucks sat, it's safe to assume about 31-32" tires in the pictures, you can see where the top of the tire is and compare it to yours.

Re: Where To Find Some Leaf Springs
Mine is definitely front sagging, especially on the left side. You can't really tell in this picture, but it's the only one I have. I've got a set of the stock height 6-leaf fronts from General Spring on order. Thanks for the help. I'll post some before and after pics when I do the swap.

Re: Where To Find Some Leaf Springs
Keep us posted! I have the same sagging spring problem with my highboy and have been contemplating what to do. Take some before and after measurements from center line of axle to the bottom of the fenders to see the difference.

Re: Where To Find Some Leaf Springs
Will do. I'll take measurements and post a write-up. Hopefully I'll have the springs soon. I will say this about General Spring: Their prices can't be beat ($159.99 each for new front 6-leaf springs with bushings, total of $398.22 after adding $78.24 UPS shipping to NC) and their customer service so far has been excellent. I used the "contact us" link to ask a question and had a response within 15 minutes.popeyes71 wrote:Keep us posted!
