Are the lifters new? Did you take them out, keep them in order and inspect them to see if they spring up and down, pump up, etc.? Do you think the pushrods are all ok?killakobra wrote: I've got a bad lifter that won't show it's self.

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
They are the lifters out of the last engine. they have 3000 miles on them. same with the push rods. All of the push rods are straight(rolled them on some glass to check). The weird thing is i re-adjusted the rockers after 100 miles and the click went away until i started back down the road. The sound is also load dependent. It clicks on acceleration and deceleration but not at a constant speed(unless their is a hill)

Bought a MSD ingnition box a couple weeks back and installed it. Also did an oil change 800 miles after the engine freshening and she seems to be doing pretty good. it's still got a lifter tick and doesn't want to budge for 5 minutes in cold weather tho.

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
i think i narrowed down my lifter tick. When i put the new engine in i used a non efi block so instead of using a block off plate over the fuel pump hole i just put a mechanical fuel pump on. Well i think when they run dry they develop a tick after a few seconds. lots of headache over nothing. On a good note i picked up a new member to my ford family. Meet the 1965 Galaxie 500 sedan. It's a 240 automatic right now but that may change.

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
I've posted one of these already on facebook but i figured i would elaborate more on here. I found a guy on craigslist With a 352 w/ 3 speed and a 351m w/ c6 for $300 and figured i'd go ahead and pick them up. well 300 miles and 5 hours of rain later i finally get back. i figure there is about 1600-1700 pounds in back. The 352 is out of a 67 f100 that the guy is working on. i gave him the forum address and hopefully we will see his build on here. he has a short widebed that he is going to put a corvette front suspension under. Anyways here are the picture.
352 head casting number. c7ae-a i think is what it says.

Killakobra what are ya doing? A 352 is going to kill you on gas. And what are you gonna do with that slick?

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
I've been doing a bit of this and that. I was thinking of putting the 352 in the galaxie with either a 4 or a 5 speed backing it. shouldn't be too bad with overdrive. The slick was a craiglist find that i stumbled on looking through low priced f100's. It didn't look too bad but i didn't know if i really needed another project. After talking to the guy i had to get it. It came with a complete 4.6 out of a 1991 lincoln, a 3 speed and a 4 speed, bellhousing, flywheel, clutch, an extra grill. about 7 headlight bezels, 2 gas tanks, another drivers door, and an extra 9 inch. Got the whole lot for $600. I'm going to get it put back together and drive it for awhile and then probably sell it. As far as the 67 goes i'm driving it everyday now. my mustang transmission decided to try and eat itself so it's all i've got at the moment. I can't complain tho. we live right near the saluda grade which i beleive is a 7% hill and she'll pull the whole thing doing 70 and not bog down at all. That and gas isn't too bad. when i got those motors i averaged 19.1 mpg over 260 miles. Next thing i want to do is get an overdrive transmission for it to cut down my cruising rpms. It turns 2300-2400 at 70

Re: 1967 stepside daily driver.
Haven't had a lot of time to work on the bump lately but i got my radio attached a little better to the headliner and cleaned up some wiring. I've also narrowed down my tick to a wrist pin . should have bought new pistons. Put a little over 1000 miles on her last month and i'm coming up on my first non break-in oil change with the new motor. it seems to be doing well. I took it on a trip 2 weekends ago and with a 50L50 split of highway and heavy stop and go traffic it averaged 17.8 MPG with quite a bit of spirited driving.

The start on the truck is randomly kicking out when starting. It's it getting old or is it a bad connection?
