Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
Did a bunch of reading.. Found out what was needed for the 3G swap.. Went to the junk yard today and got a 3G 130A alternator from a 97 Ford Taurus. Had it checked at the local parts place and it tested good. Went to one of the local stereo shops and bought some heavy gauge wires, a fuse and fuse holder. Came home and had to switch the pulley from my alt to the 3G. the pulley bottomed out on the case so I shimmed it with a washer but then then the nut couldn't thread on because the shaft was to short. Ended up going to the local Alternator shop and they shimmed and put a different pulley on it.
Now I can bolt it in.. I may do that tomorrow.. Haven't decided what I want to do yet.. =)

Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
Got this in the mail yesterday.
I'm hoping to have some time on Saturday to install it.. However I may be limited. I have to go to training 50+ miles from home next week so I have to go over my R1 really good and make sure it's still good to go to commute on.. I haven't ridden it much lately.. I know I need to clean/lube and adjust the chain.. Just gotta check out everything else..

Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
Sorry for not doing any kind of update.. Nothing really has happened to much. It has been sitting in my back yard for the past couple years being put aside. A week before Memorial Day a woman ran a red light and T-boned my Superduty. She hit my front right tire, went partially under the truck taking out my steps and got lodged at my rear tire. Ruined the front fender, both fender flares and dented both doors and the bed. My back was tweaked and I couldn't really work on anything for a long time. Ended up not wanting to do anything to it until recently. I'm ok now and the Superduty is all fixed of course..
I did buy 90% of everything I need to complete it. I just recently received my dash back from the guy who built it. Took months and months. =(
I hadn't done any work on it for a long time until just a couple days ago. Months and months ago I pulled the cheap alternator off of it to upgrade it to a 3G high amp alt to run everything. Well ended up not putting the new one on until 2 1/2 days ago. That opened a can of worms. The existing bracket wouldn't work with it and I spent yesterday hunting through the junk yards looking for a different bracket.. No good. But today after running around I ended up using some small piping for spacers and a turnbuckle for a mount. I'll have to take pics. But it should be good to go.
Also I'm unemployed for the next 6 months. (the place I contract at has a 2 years on, 6 month off policy) So I'll actually be putting some time into this thing now.. Tomorrow I think I'll try and lay the wiring harness in the truck.
I have given up on this thing over and over but keep coming back to it.. *sigh*

Quick pic of the dash
It's hard to see but those are switches and lights to the left of the gauges..

Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
Bad news...
Well.. Got the 460 in it running and all good.. Just needed to pull the trans to change the seal so it would stop leaking. Decided to go to the DMV to transfer the title and register it so it would help the fire to get the final wiring in and call it good.. Long story short. Due to issues without having a bill of sale from the PO who had it before the people who I got it from and not being able to register it It's not worth it to me to put any more time and effort into it. Sucks but then again it is kind of nice. It is the one thing that really has lingered from the ex wife that I just have bad memories with. I had gotten in way over my head for my skill set since the beginning but this was the final straw. Yea it's a bummer and sucks to find it out towards the end but it is what it is. More then likely I'll yank the 460/C6 and transfer case out and sell them on craigslist.
Sorry for the big disappointment everyone. However I did want to post up for the people who were following and not just leave everyone wondering what was going on. After all the DMV things I ended up finding a clean and complete 78 bronco that I couldn't pass up on. Since I lost a 79 bronco in my divorce years and that I regretted giving up I figure it would be a good buy.
Again sorry for the let down.

I've been following your progress, and was disappointed to hear about this. We all have different chapters to our lives, and the new chapter can change at any time. Best of luck in the future though.

I vote this the most depressing build thread in history.

Wow, I wouldn't just give up there. Can you title it as a custom built vehicle?

I think he just needs to give it to me so I can have 2 bump sides on bronco frames.

Re: 69 F250 body on 87 bronco frame
A lot besides the title made me give up.. However come to find out the title is good.. I found this out after I bought a 78 bronco.. Either way I've given up on this project.. It's the only thing that I have around the house that has to do with the ex wife and I'm done with it.
HOWEVER..
Well there is some saving grace. My buddy is taking the rig off my hands. His daughter fell in love with it.. So him and her will use it as a project for her. I'll keep tabs on it and post pics to keep people updated on what happens to it.. This guy builds custom cars so it should turn out pretty nice. It will end up a lot better then anything I could have done with it.
