360 to 390 build
Well here it goes, I'm doing my first 360 to 390 build. Engine is all torn down and just sent block over to machine shop for machining. Will have pics soon of my progress. Not doing anything extreme, but definitely going to "wake" it up some.

Sounds like fun! What are your plans for "waking it up"? Cam, intake, exhaust? It'll be fun to see pics when you get them. What machine work are you having them do, basic bore and hone, or are you going for more?

Vodoo cam http://www.lunatipower.com/Product.aspx?id=2375&gid=297, valve springs, edelbrock rpm performer intake, holley 750, and speed pro flat top pistons. I'm having it bored, decked, and the oil feed holes in the main bearing saddles fixed. I almost forgot about the 390 crank and rods.speedbug78 wrote:Sounds like fun! Re: 360 to 390 build
I have finally have some updates. The 360 that was in it had already been bored .040 over and had two sleeves in it. The cylinders had to much wear in them to get them to clean up, so I ended up getting a DT4E block from the engine shop for 50 bucks ( didn't think that was too bad). I have the block and everything back, now just waiting on it to warm up so I can get started on the assembly and paint. I have a bunch of pics of the things I have so far for my build.
Chamfered main bearing saddle holes on mains 1,2, and 4.
390 crank
Reman heads with new valve springs for my Voodoo cam
Sealed power .030 flat top pistons with moly rings
Felpro gasket kit, bearings, oil pump, timing chain and gears, etc.
Camshaft and lifters
Rocker shafts
Reconditioned rods with new wrist pin bushings

Re: 360 to 390 build
Looking good so far! I have a similar one going together now that's in a time out for now as I'm getting the rest of my '70 ready for it. I used a Voodoo cam as well and can't wait to hear it! I'll be following along as I'm sure you'll be turning the key before I do.

Re: 360 to 390 build
I am itching to do this - any idea what you think this will cost you for engine parts/labor? Not including your time to R&R the motor....

Re: 360 to 390 build
The only labor was at the machine shop, I think that was around 800.00. that was for all of the machine work to the block, rods, and rocker arm shafts. I think i'm gonna be around 2,000 to 2,500 when I'm completely finished.toddspeed wrote:I am itching to do this - any idea what you think this will cost you for engine parts/labor?
