They are holding up great. the only problem i've had was a malfuntioning master cylinder that hung up and toasted my first set of pads. They also stop with less chance of locking up. Even with heavy duty springs up front it will drop the front end about 4 inches on an emergency stop and not skid. Now you may have a different experience with a power brake booster if you have one. i'm running a manual brake setup.

Great that's what I wanted to hear! I don't believe the booster will affect anything other than making the braking easier.

Still alive just been busy. was looking for a 302 to put in the truck and stumbled upon a 91 mustang i couldn't pass up. Ended up finding some nasties in the transmission so i'm getting back to work on the truck till i can figure out weither to rebuild or replace the 5 speed. been looking through some sites and i figure it'll cost roughly $250 in parts to do a re-ring on the 300 and get it running right. As of now i have to run it as far advanced as i can and still start to get any power out of it so i figure the rings are shot. Until then here's a pic of the new project.

Just ordered rings, bearings both main and rod, and a gasket set today and i'll be picking up a oil and water pump localy. gotta clean up the block and get it painted in the mean time.

Just read the entire thread, pretty entertaining. Thats a bummer about the motor running issues. I never could get my old 300-6 to run right. Turned out after I sold it the head gasket went.

I have also been a member of the 67 stepside from 97-09 when it was too rusted out to save. I did build a healthy 351 cleveland and FMX for it, and a full floater dana 60 came with it.

i really like the rake on that truck. amazing how the same year truck can have such a different personality. Got some of my parts in and hopefully the rest will be coming tomorrow. I have the rings, gaskets, oil pump, and water pump in and i'm waiting on the main and rod bearings.

Short block is pretty much done. Gotta wait to pull the engine for some of the tin and the head.

engine is alive. Gotta adjust the valves and burp the coolant but it's close.

got a few miles on her now. still has some quirks but all in all she's running alright.

I've got around 400 miles on the new engine. she's runnin' alot better, but it's still a little buggy. Part throttle hiccups a little and i've got a bad lifter that won't show it's self. I would hate to have to replace the whole set just to find one.

Nope. i rebuilt the 300. I originally bought the mustang to salvage the engine and tranny but i just couldn't do it. only problem with the car right now is it decided to chew up the input shaft.
