Porsche 'Guards Red'.

Thanks...

Due to location (NW PA) it will be a 5 footer.... at 5 foot it looks great.... but I already see some flaws I wish I could re-fix, and some pieces that were bad enough that I wanted to replace them, but no parts were reasonable within distance/cost....

I am building it as a working truck with concours aspirations.... ;)

Give yourself an unreasonable timeframe with significant consequences for failure and it is amazing what you can get done...

That looks awesome, man! You've made huge progress in a short amount of time! I'm really looking forward to the reassembly stage, always a fun time, where significant progress is made every day. - very cool.

I always set unreasonable deadlines and goals for myself, but unfortunately, I know I'm full of crap. :D

Yesterday's prep work:

Column is ready:
Image
The wheel is shot, and I plan on replacing it with something else, but it will do for now...

Booster is in:
Image
I am missing one of the fittings for the brake lines, so I will get that today and get the brakes plumbed...

Door Latches are clean and ready:
Image
The previous owner(s) liberally covered these in white lithium grease... they were so sticky that they were hard to actuate - even in 80 degree heat.
An 8 hour soak in a gallon of carb dip cleaned tham up well, then a rinse in the parts washer to remove the final gunk. Also removed all the overspray from the previous paint job

Wing window windchimes:
Image
Yes, there are only 2 in the truck, but I know if I just do 2, one will have to be re-done... if I do all 4, then they will all be good and I will have 2 nice spares (that is the way my luck goes...)

Door panel:
Image
I am going to use the black Ranger panels, so I thought the gray would be an interesting highlight/offset color.

Anyway, yesterday was mostly prep, so today I should actually get some assembly done!

I count today a MAJOR milestone. :woohoo:

All the wiring is in, tested, and almost all is working...

Since the underdash wiring harnes was in bad shape (too many previous owners and too much rust), I have spent a lot of time cleaning this one up (Fuse box actually had the wires rust off the clips) and I had many concerns (converting it to F600 in there too).

The Starter solenoid is bad, so I will pic up a new one tomorrow, and then the final test (starter) will be done.

I am waiting on my HEI dizzy and a fuel tank, but I should be able to start it soon.

The brakes are plumbed and ready to be bled. May get to that tomorrow if I can get some help.
Exhaust is in... Nothing special but it will keep me legal.

The wing-window windchimes are painted and looking good.... waiting on parts from MACs... :x

Speedo cable is in. Ebrake is in and adjusted.

Doors are adjusted and outside handles are on.

Retainers for cab rear beltline installed.

Found a 68 highboy in the JY so I may have found the right gas tank mounts and gas tank...

Always too much more to do, but I am getting there...
