28/31 spline parts interchange?

I am putting a dent rearend in my truck. I am thinking of just throwing a 31 spline minispool into a 28 spline 3rd member... anybody know if this will work?

No problem. The only real difference between the 2 is the spyder gears.

Don't know if your truck is going to be used for street use or track use?

Spools/mini-spools are great for drag racing where you're primarily just going in a straight line.

For the street though, spools/mini-spools are very rough on axles, gears & accelerate tire wear. They are also very dangerous on wet roads because both axles are locked together and there is no differential action between the rear wheels.

just took a mini spool out of my '67 because it was a night mare to drive in town especially backing up

Ive had a spool in it before, I really didnt notice it much other than parking... maybe I just got used to it, but it hasnt bothered me. I like the confidence that when I light em up both tires are spinning, everytime. Ill likely do a limited slip eventually but until then a $30 spool gets me going.

Just for the record I was only referring to being able to swap it into the housing & what the difference was between 28 & 31 spline not driveability.
