Guessing you don't have a traction loc out back? Thus, with an open rear end, once one tire gains traction, it instantly stops turning and then puts all the power to the tire that is spinning. If you do have a TL, then the clutches are worn/springs weak and is not staying engaged.
Back in the day, if you were stuck(like in the snow), you would pull the Ebrake on lightly to put equal drag on both tires and that would keep both tires turning and give you a better chance of getting moving. Never tried it for a burnout? Never wanted to burn the brakes up that bad.
