4x4 coversion.

so my 69 is my baby. i love everything about her except for the fact that she only has 2 wheel drive. i know that 4 wheel drive conversions can be done but are a little bit of a headache. is it really worth it in the end?

that is a question you'd really have to ask yourself. i did one on my 95 F150 and i completely thought it was worth it. do you have the room for a spare chassis to work on? easiest way to do the swap, would be to pick up a 4x4 chassis, and swap your parts over. you could clean up the frame, axles, suspension, etc. redo all the bushings and what not. and have your transmission and transfer case ready to go as well. then just swap your engine over, swap your body over, and you're done.

i guess, in the end, it comes down to mechanical ability.

and while, i know its possible to do a straight axle swap, until you are wanting to lift the truck quite a bit, or do some crossmember swapping with a 4x4, it isnt necessarily the best option.

You are talking about 2 different animals when talking about a '95. Somewhere around '80 Ford started using the same chassis for both 2x4 & 4x4. You could simply just unbolt the 2WD stuff & bolt in 4x4. All the holes are there. GIJoe4500 could have followed that path instead of using a different chassis but you really need to do a complete body swap like he described.

on the 95, i didnt swap chassis. i was just saying the 4x4 swap was worth it to me on that truck.
