Finished up porting my heads tonight. I now know why people just buy aftermarket heads instead of porting.

You won't be disappointed with the flat tops. I threw a set of them into the first 302 I rebuilt many years ago and it really woke up that block.
What kid of cam you putting in it?
Looking good-a little bit at a time, (only way I could afford to build an engine).

A hydraulic flat tappet. A lot of company's sell it (melling, clevite, sealed power, and engine tech.) 290/300 duration .472/.496 lift. Mellings website describes it as 1962-1985 class II fair idle, good low to mid range torque, power range 1700-5200 rpm. I'm not planing on using the truck to haul or tow anything, so I decided I'd give up some low end torque for a little more mid range HP and sound quality. :D
