two original gas caps, one painted, one chrome

Post by dablack00 »

I pulled the painted gas cap from a 72 camper special with 24k original miles. I also have a nice chrome one.

You can have one or both for $9.

thanks

I'll take the chrome one, if it will seal and if it is for a closed system. My 72 F250 has no vent lines or charcoal canister. I can't really tell what type of cap I am supposed to have, but it has to be vented to let air into the tank as it is consumed. It also has to keep it from leaking when the tank is full. If you think that cap will work you can throw it in with the parking brake pedal, if you haven't shipped yet. I'll PayPal the money if all this sounds good.

Hey Kurt,

Let me check it when I go home for lunch. With that being said, I'm not sure what I'm supposed to look for to be able to tell the difference. I will let you know what I find.

thanks

I know it has to be vented to let air in, and it needs to have a good seal to keep the gas from pouring out when I park on an incline. That is about it. This isn't a big investment, so I am willing to take a chance that it will fit.

Hey Kurt,

I think it will work for you. It looks like there is a vent and the rubber looks like it is in good enough shape to seal.
You have my paypal.
thanks

And if you still have those sun visors and you can get them in the same box without too much additional postage, I'll take them too.
