1970 F250 Custon Explorer Special

Post by galexie64 »

My truck is an explorer F250 Camper Special. 390 (out of a '69 Torino) and a C6. It also has P/S, P/B, front disks. I've owned the truck since 1996 and I've only driven it about 20k. The truck was parked at my parents house for close to 10 years (350 miles away). I've finally brought it to my house and have started working on it.

How it looked less than a month ago:

The first thing I need to do to the truck after getting it running is have the drive shaft balanced. Total cost of $184.

Last night I replaced the fuel sending unit (and pickup), fuel pump, and fuel filter in the work parking lot. I was having a problem with the truck stalling on the way in to work on tuesday. The problem turned out to be the fuel pump even though it was only 4 months old.

I also installed the rear emblems and reflectors.

I haven't cleaned any of it yet or painted.

I replaced the inner fender on the passenger side because at sone point it was almost completely cut out. You can see that I need to rewire the truck. (I have a good harness to install)

Thanks.

I plan to paint it with a cheaper paint job, step above maaco, that looks good. I don't want to make it too nice because I want to be able to use it as a truck. I'm going to paint it the original grabber blue.

The interior need some paint as well. I picked up a seat that has great springs and foam but need to be reupholstered. I also have a number of parts to install like a radio, antenna, rubber mat, wiring harness, heater controls, etc. I also took the in cab gas tank out a long time ago and I'll be reinstalling it as well.

This truck was my first vehicle, I drove it through most of HS and some of college.
