My dad has had several cars restored through the years, and recently, I got on him about trucks. I've driven pickups since I was a teenager, and just love 'em. He said if I wanted an old truck so badly, why didn't I just get one restored on my own. Seeing as how I can't afford to have someone do it for me, I decided to do it on my own. I picked up a '65 Rangoon Red longbed Flareside with the 240 I6. She starts and moves around (no brakes, so no telling how fast she moves). Three on the tree is an interesting new experience for me as well!
In the process of looking for parts however, I came across a 1968 Skyview Blue longbed Styleside that was about to be sent to the scrapyard. For $500, I went home with this one as well. It has a 360 (also with the 3 speed transmission). She doesn't start yet...but I've got her close. It's been sitting for two years, so I think the carb needs rebuilt...that's after replacing the battery, battery cables, starter solenoid, starter, belts, and alternator. She turns over, and starting fluid will cause the engine to show signs of life, but then it'll die. I've replaced the fuel filter, but i wonder if I need to also look closer at the fuel pump.
Anyways, that's my story.
