Awesome, Todd! That is one highly desirable rear end! My brother-in-law (rock crawler) would drool all over that picture.

Keep it moving, bud! Very interested in all the cab metal and frame fab work, excellent!

ripped the bump stop bolt right off trying to get it out... thought I wasnt going to get it  but ended up sacraficing a socket to get it out and save the knuckle. All that NY rust.... got the newer hubs with the 9/16" studs vrs the 79 1/2" studs. Pulling the knuckles this weekend and start cleaning it and start putting together. Having a problem though finding a good set of 86-91 front brake calipers form a D60.. so that will be a hold up.

How are you going to mount the drivers side shock... As far along as I am, this is the problem I face.

If you go crossover steering it isn't a problem, just the original push/pull.

Let me know what you decide so I can get mine done!

I can understand wanting to do that but how do you intend on allowing for the inner U-bolt to be mounted with the ribbing on the bottom of the housing? Please don't say you are going to notch it....

hum.. they say it will slip if not notched (dont want to notch housing  ). Might just then stick with the original setup and put the shock mount on it like the above. I dont like the stock setup one of the holes is already oval..

That is probably stronger than notching it...

I went with the original caps... just for that reason.

The Ford style U-bolt mounting is a lot more durable/stronger. Why would they spend more to do it that way? Why don't big trucks use round U-bolts?

Some things you may ask yourself.

Many do notch and drill the housings though. I've done it for others, but will keep the square U-bolts myself.

Arg.. the rust.. ripped off the head of another bolt on the bottom king pin cap. Will cut off the cap and hope 1/4" or so of the bolt should be left, weld on another socket....

It's only one bolt left, can you spin it off of the rest of that bolt or is the plate recessed into the housing to where it can't spin? I don't know anything about the front axle.
